The league is comprised of volunteers operating a non-profit organization dedicated to this purpose.Started 1978-79 with 4 teams from Nova Scotia and 3 teams from New Brunswick, known as Maritime Midget Hockey League. In 1993 renamed Nova Scotia AAA Midget Hockey League with 6 teams from Nova Scotia. 2002 to 2019, renamed Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League with 8 teams.Hockey is a team sport that provides a means for bringing people together in a healthy atmosphere of competition.
